Welcome to the High Desert Fort Irwin Chapter Page

ABOUT US:  The Fort Irwin ROCKS Chapter, also known as the High Desert Chapter, was established through the efforts of Colonel Derek Farmer and other dedicated leaders who felt the need to introduce a formalized mentorship structure for Soldiers stationed here at Fort Irwin, California.  Unfortunately the Chapter became dormant due to unforeseen circumstances.  Upon his arrival to Fort Irwin, Colonel Richard 'Flip' Wilson (Rock of the Year 2012), worked diligently with other Officers here on Fort Irwin to re-charter the Chapter.  The High Desert Chapter was re-chartered in October 2013 and currently has about 10 active members.  Colonel Richard 'Flip' Wilson, NTC Chief of Staff, is our senior advisor.

Past Programs:

Major General (MG) Leslie 'les' Smith, Commanding General of the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence (MSCOE) and Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Terrence Murphy had a working luncheon with the Fort Irwin's ROCKS Chapter on January 31, 2014.  The luncheon, an initiative undertaken as part of the Chapter's Leader Development Outreach (LDO), was attended by a broad spectrum of the Fort Irwin's community.  Commissioned Officers, senior enlisted Soldiers, and civilians discussed pertinent issues impacting the US Army with these senior leaders.

Current Programs:

The Chapter is involved in discussions with NTC Garrison Leadership about setting up a JRTC program at the local high school.  We are also discussing with ROTC programs in the local areas to begin mentorship programs at local universities.
