MEMORANDUM TO ALL CHAPTER
AND INTEREST GROUP PRESIDENTS SUBJECT: THE ROCKS, INC. Mentoring Program 1. In keeping with its mission and historical charter, The ROCKS, Inc. has begun implementation of a mentoring program. The purpose of the program is to capitalize on the wisdom and experiences of successful role models and experienced individuals who are committed to supporting proteges and enhancing the organization. As in other organizations today, mentoring is an investment in the future by preparing leaders who will perform well in the military and civilian sectors of our society and continue to foster the traditions and goals of the organizations. 2. The benefits of the mentoring program to The ROCKS, Inc. will be many and far-reaching. Mentors will have an opportunity to improve their leadership skills and gain new perspectives while having the satisfaction of helping a mentee to discover his or her way in the world of work. Mentees or proteges will receive and impart invaluable knowledge and experience through their associations with their mentors. Military organizations benefit by the improvement in competency development, greater insight and knowledge of participants of the organizational culture and improvement in communication across the spectrum of leadership. 3. The draft plan of the Mentoring Program "tool kit" and the Mentoring Program SOP are attached for your review and comment. Any comments may be emailed or communicated in other traditional ways. We welcome your comments and suggestions about this work in progress. 4. I urge your enthusiastic support of this program and look forward to working with you in its implementation.
