The ROCKS, INC. National Board of Directors is committed to refining the organization's focus and direction. The following programs and initiatives are based on our core values of Concern, Dedication and Professionalism translated in a manner which strengthens the Army officer corps: Professional Development of the Army Officer Corps, Leadership Outreach to Historically Black Colleges and University (HBCU) ROTC Programs, Mentoring, Ongoing communication with senior Army leadership, awarding scholarships to deserving ROTC cadets in HBCUs, assisting eligible candidates in obtaining an Army ROTC scholarship, and providing support and assistance to all chapters and interest groups.
Specific priority goals of The ROCKS, INC. for 2009 are to increase ROCKS membership; enhance Leadership Outreach efforts to Historically Black Colleges and Universities and within our communities; and transform our internal and external administrative and communications practices. The launching of this new website, which includes a Rocks National database, is a tool that is intended to serve as a enabler for improving administration and communications not only in your Chapter/Interest Group, but also within the ROCKS organization as a whole. We are also in the process of assigning a board member as a national representative for each chapter and interest group. This representative will maintain contact and provide input on the progress of each chapter or interest group toward its goals.
Since mentoring is a core value of THE ROCKS, INC., we are especially committed to maintaining a world class program that is well connected to other mentoring programs in the Army. Every ROCK must expend some time and energy in helping other officers advance their careers.
If you are not a member but are eligible to become one, we highly encourage you to join us today. We may be able to assist you in your career development, or you may be able to use your talents and skills to assist others. Eligibility criteria are located within the website. If you are not eligible to join but are interested in advancing the goals of the organization, there are many ways to support The ROCKS, INC. This information is also located on the website.
We look forward to an exciting and productive year as we continue to uphold the ROCKS values of Concern, Dedication and Professionalism among our members and share those values with the world community.
