The ROCKS, Inc.
National Board of Directors

Message from the Chairperson

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the official website of THE ROCKS, INC. Through this marvelous technological realm, we will provide information so that you may become intimately familiar with the organization as a whole; its history, purpose, values, goals and its many programs.

In 1974, THE ROCKS, INC. began as a metropolitan Washington, DC organization with one chapter. Since then, THE ROCKS, INC. has steadily grown to a membership of over 1300 members in 23 chapters and 7 interest groups established worldwide. There are interest groups in Iraq and Afghanistan. The organization has positioned itself as an essential leader in providing developmental guidance to members of the Army officer corps. Simultaneously, the ROCKS is providing information and processes to help its transitioning members move into the civilian sector.

The National Board of Directors has been instrumental in refining the organization’s focus and direction. The steady pace in growth has necessitated a better means to manage the global span of the organization. This is an endeavor that has been long in planning and is now emerging. We are very excited about our progress.

The specific priority goals of THE ROCKS, INC. for 2007 are to:  increase membership, align and enhance Leadership Outreach, assess, enhance and develop the mentoring program and to sell the Stivers print. We believe that we can best serve others by paying particular attention to these goals. We are also in the process of assigning a board member as a national representative for each chapter and interest group. This representative will maintain contact and provide input on the progress of each chapter or interest group toward its goals.

Since mentoring is a core value of THE ROCKS, INC., we are committed to establishing and maintaining a world class program that is well connected to other mentoring programs in the Army. Every ROCK must expend some time and energy in helping other officers advance their careers.

We look forward to an exciting and productive year as we continue to uphold the ROCKS values of Concern, Dedication and Professionalism among our members and share those values with the world community.
