THE ROCKS INCORPORATED
Who
Are We?
Founded in 1974, the Rocks, Inc. is a non-profit organization comprised of active, reserve, retired and former commissioned officers and warrant officers of the U.S. Armed Forces, and widows and widowers of deceased members. The organization was formed to provide professional development and social interaction to strengthen the officer corps. In addition to the R.C. Cartwright Scholarship Fund, the “Leadership Outreach” program provides an opportunity for teams consisting of ROCKS members to visit Historically Black Colleges and Universities and other universities when requested to provide professional career development guidance to ROTC students.

The
Rocks
The mission of the Rocks, Inc. is to provide mentorship, scholarship and fellowship to ROTC Cadets, active duty, reserve component, commissioned officers and active duty or reserve component warrant officers. The organization is also dedicated to assisting retired or former active duty commissioned or warrant officers, retired or former reserve component and commissioned, and warrant officers in their transition to the private sector in their transition to the private sector.

Leadership
Outreach
Teams comprised of 3-5 officers visit over 19 colleges and universities annually. The teams are led by a general officer. The outreach team presents seminars to college students on socialization, evaluation systems and financial management. Our goals are to assist students in successfully transitioning from college to the active military.

Cartwright Scholarship Fund
Rocks, Inc. administers and is the executor of the R.C. Cartwright Scholarship Fund. Annually, the fund recognizes sophomore, junior and senior students who require financial assistance to continue their educational endeavors. The students must be in good academic standing and must be nominated by the professor of military science.
Mentorship/Professional Development
This mentorship initiative focuses on providing information and guidance primarily to junior officers about the workplace environment and helps them make the best career choices. Monthly meetings focus on exposure of the general membership to guest speakers who can provide information that will assist the membership in their professional growth or military career. Additionally, general officers and other senior Army officers, both active and retired, provide advice and guidance to officers

How Can Senior Officers Help?
· Team Leader for Leadership Outreach.
· Attend meetings and become mentors to young officers.
· Volunteers to address chapters
· Agree to be resources for referrals on branch peculiar professional development issues.
· Encourage mentoring/coaching for all officers in the field and set the example by being and doing.
· Volunteer to lead and/or participate in Committees.
